scared of the bullies!

August 26, 2006

My goodness! Are they for real? As I watched the news about the new impeachment case against Her Royal Shameless PGMA, I just saw a bunch of men and women proud of what they did! Junked the Impeachment Case! 173 voted against the impeachment and 32 pro-impeachment case! What happened to the 19 of last year’s impeachment hearing?Strong vote of confidence my ass! There is no such thing as strong vote! You people are being bullied! Before, I was sad about the turn of events but now…I’m pissed and mad!Representatives were voting according to their will not the will of the people! To remind you what representative means, you represent the people or your constituents from your city, municipality or province! You don’t represent yourselves. Did you even ask your people about it? Let me guess! NO! Ofcourse not! Because you think you know it all.My representative did not ask me what I really want nor asked the others about they want, who they want for the presidency now. Who are you to decide on our future, the future of this country. There is no insufficiency in substance. There were so many documentary evidences piled up against her and yet De Venecia said insufficiency of substance. Clearly, he turned his back on something he knew would be right and that it will be slapped on his face.

Last year’s impeachment was a major disaster too leading to the walk-out of the members of the minority. Imagine, some members of the house agreed to vote for the impeachment against PGMA and when the voting day came, some of these members turned their backs on the minority to vote against the impeachment. Even Imee Marcos can’t be found that day. The minority was so confident that day because they believed that the required votes will be reached and lo and behold! The people they were counting on to be part of that required votes wree actually traitors and jilters of the cause. It was a blow to the members of the minority as well as to me…a voter. I was sold out by my representative. I just don’t know how much was my price.

During the impeachment of Estrada, why was it so fast? The evidences were not as many as Her Royal Shameless has now. Plunder and money laundering and the Bobby Dacer case and some evidence were just hearsay (but i still want this guy go to jail). How about PGMA? Extra-Judicial killings of Left-leaning personalities; the P758 million fertilizer scam; massive fraud during the election (HELLO GARCI) among others (Manila Bulletin).

According to Deputiy Majority Leader Danton: The mebers of the house must observe strictly the rules of impeachment to avoid its “misuse and abuse” (Manila Bulletin). What abuse? What misuse? The majority exploiting on the use of technicalitites is an abuse. The rules are misused by the very people who made such rules.

You people in the house know the truth. The truth that PGMA is guilty of all these cases against her. You just turned your back because you are afraid. Never mind the money right? Because you can get that through projects and other stuffs that need the budget, you can corrupt on that. Never mind the people right? Coz’ you’re already in your position and office and by the next election, you can always buy them. Never mind if she’s guilty or not right? Coz’ you don’t really care.

You are afraid of her. You go to your offices being high and mighty with your head held high. Well, you actually don’t have a head anymore. Do you know what people would say when they watch you in the television? They wish you’re dead; corrupt people on the face of the earth, among others. The people thought your not scared of anyone thats why you ran for the position. My gosh! How wrong. You’re a bunch of chickens running around fattened or threatened by your bully. Just one word from her and you blinked and sweat. You’re scared that she might not find favor in you. Your principles…drained along with honor and integrity.

There’s only one thing I can say to you guys…..buck buck buck…buuuuuuck! Chicken.

salute to the chiefs!

Ok, as much as I hated to talk about politics, I need to. Just indulge me a bit. Listen to what I got to say. When I was studying political science in my university, I came into this phrase, desperate times call for desperate measures.  I didn’t know the impact of this phrase until I studied some case related to this. Blown away. I realized how this small phrase changed the face of politics and the coming out of underground manuevers considered to be foul by others but necessary to some.Ofcourse you know Lucifer! Some of you knew how he was cast out from the heavens. For the benefit of others, let me tell you a little about it. According to bible scholars, Lucifer was one of the most beasutiful angels ever. Because of his wisdom, God loved him and considered him above all angels. But because Lucifer was so proud of himself (he was even smug about it), he considered himself to be above all creations including God. As the story was told, Lucifer waged war against the almighty and lost. Because of that, God threw him on earth and was no longer an angel but the devil hence, the name Satan.Sorry for not being straight to the point here but just indulge me for what I’m trying to share with you.In the mid 1980’s. My country, Philippines went into a great transition from dictatorship to democracy. During the dictatorship, CPP-NPA was created (rebels), killings here and there and military abuses. Most of the private companies were being held “captive” by the president under the guise that the government has to control the wealth of the country. Media was controlled and some media men were killed. Singers who were activist were also shot and rallies were permitted but the leaders were massacerd. When Cory Aquino became president by virtue of the People Power revolution, military’s jurisdiction was limited. A new Constitiution was made to ensure that the people’s rights must be respected. Ok, so that was basically it. People Power and democracy. However, during the administration of Cory Aquino, there was a group of military men who were not contented with the things were done by the new president. This group was called RAM (I forgot what it meant), made up of mostly the military from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. This group was headed by Gringo Honasan. They waged war against the government because these men are frustrated and would like to take things into their own hands. We call what they did as coup de tat. It was devastating for Manila that time because it was like Iraq (minus the bombs). RAM versus military who stayed under the leadership of the government were shooting at each other and just imagine, they belong to the same denomination, Armed forces of the Philippines. I was just a kid then but I could see the television, it was hell.To make the long story short, the cou de tat was not successful. Gringo Honasan was captured but he was pardoned and went back to serve his beloved country. If during that time people thought that it was the end of it, they we wrong. Even the government was not prepared for it.Last 2003, a coup de tat happened again. It was fondly called the “Oakwood Mutiny” because it happened in Oakwood Hotel, in Glorietta Mall, Makati City, Manila. The group was called “Magdalo”. It was carefully planned because how could these bunch of good-looking, macho guys came up with such a plan to seige this hotel. It was a carefully laid plan and you can just see the precision and the timing of it. They brought high-calibered guns (very expensive guns), bombs and other deadly devices to get this cou de tat going. It really triggered fear to the foreigners, occupants and mall-goers at that area. It was a ctually a media event, news here and there and ofcourse, the leaders of this group took advantage of it, trying to acquire sympathy from the people who were watching the news. Their condition was: That President Gloria Aroyo will step down from Malacañang. They were also asking the people who believed in their cause to march to Glorietta to show to the President that the people are united to bring her down. Their expected time that these things will happen? Until 5 in the afternoon on that same day they started it. Man…it was a poor sight. Gloria Aroyo with all her wisdom and her advisers too, did not step down from office. But the most sorry sight is that, there were no marching people around joining sympathizing with them. At 5 PM, the Magdalo Group surrendered. No president stepped down and no group of marching sympathizers. The Oakwood Mutiny was investigated that the Oakwood Mutiny was carefully planned. The most interesting part is that, days before that, some of this leaders of the group were already checked-in to Oakwood Hotel (very classy hotel). Imagine…high calibered guns, equipments of whatever sort (very expensive ones from outside the country)…WHERE IN THE WORLD DID THEY GET THESE THINGS? WHOSE MONEY ARE THEY USING OR WHO FUNDED THIS COUP DE TAT?After the Magdalo incident, there were sort of an investigation about plots of cou de tat. There were rumors that there are more groups plotting but you know…just rumors. But what happened next is a total fiasco. The government is playing with our fears. That the administration has received threats of another coup and there are also other groups who are planning to topple the government down. Many high ranked officials were taken into custody without proper information because the adminstration just based its reasons on some clear and present danger blah blah blah….or whatever. Now…how is this related to my story? The president is God and the military men who took part in the coup is Lucifer a.k.a Satan. The only difference is that my story was about the forces of evil against the forces of good. Lucifer versus God. But, in the inormation I’m sharing to you right now is that the Presdient is not the good person or force and the military men are not that bad either. Look…I’m not saying that what these men did was right and I’m not trying to encourage either. What I’m trying to say is that there must be reasons why these men did what they did. When these men were investigated, they said that the military is full of corrupt officers, their conditions during encounters with rebels and terrorist is below poor and there was no adequate support from the administration. I know, i know…the end does not justify the means but I totally understand why they did it. I’m no supporter of violence, I even abhore violence but sometimes, people sacrifice honor and integrity to prove something. These men sacrificed their honor and integrity and they proved something, the people just don’t believe them.During the encounters of the MILF and Abu Sayaf as against the military, you could just see the poor conditions of our Armed Forces. My gosh! I don’t if you noticed it, the MILF as well as the Abu Sayaf were using high powered guns! How did that happen? What about our armed forces? They were using this…this…hand me down guns and armalites!

The President is too smug to recognize the problem. Assign it to the high ranked officials and still the problem is not solved. She refused to realize that these problems will persist until the time she will herself solve the problem. During the start of the war after the 911 incident, she was able to send troops to Iraq to help her friend but what in the …she closes her eyes to the problems of our military people, in her own country!

The issue of more coups to happen will not be surprising for me. In fact, in my own opinion, it will continue to happen unless she will do something about it. The number one thing she has to do first is to listen by heart to the people concerned. During the Oakwood Mutiny, she only saw criminals and not men with purpose. As I’ve said, desperate times call for desperate measures. That’s why they did what they did. They had to do it to be heard.

These men are not criminals. They just want to prove a point that one someday, men and women and children will benefit from their sacrifices. They did not seek fame or fortune, they only wanted to be heard. I only wish that th Filipino people will also care enough but I can’t blame them if they don’t. They’re also fed up with the administration adn the things that are happening in this country.

My highest regard to you…I salute you…chiefs!
